Not a hotel. Not a resort.
A living ecosystem.

Architect-designed bamboo treehouse
01 - Architecture

Designed by Architects, Built from Bamboo

No steel frames, no factory panels. Every Hideout is drawn by our in-house architects and raised entirely from local bamboo by hand - the spiral ramps of Horizon, the falcon-wing roof of Falcon, the triangular lounge of the Original.

Your Own Water Ritual at Every Home

No shared resort pool - ever. Each Hideout has its own: Beehive's 31°C river-fed pool, Falcon's hot-spring stone bath, Zen's carved onsen and cold plunge, Lightroom's petal-filled flower bath.

Beds That Belong in the Jungle

Horizon's 240cm round bed sits under a climbable net above the plunge pool. Element's bed rotates to follow the sunrise through a 360° glass room. Zen's A-frame perches in the canopy.

Each Hideout is a standalone home with its own garden and gate - not a room in a building. Meals are delivered to your door, staff there when you need them and invisible when you don't.

Where It Started

One of Airbnb's most wish-listed homes on the planet.

Hideout Bali was built before bamboo stays were a trend - and it still books six months ahead. Fourteen homes later, the waitlist hasn't shrunk.

Jungle Serenity Sessions

Your Perfect Day at Hideout

From a misty sunrise inside the architecture to a bonfire under the stars - here's how a day unfolds when the jungle sets the pace.

01MorningFrom sunrise

Wake Up Inside the Architecture

No alarm. Just light shifting through bamboo curves and birdsong off the river. At Zen, mist lifts through the treetops outside your A-frame. At Element, the sunrise hits Mount Agung and you rotate the bed to follow it. At Bamboo Home, your toddler is already padding toward the glass wall to watch the garden wake up.

Your Private Water Ritual

Practice yoga on a private deck overlooking the lush jungle canopy, accompanied by the awakening chorus of birds. Lightroom's flower bath arrives with hot water and fresh petals. Beehive's river-fed pool reaches 31°C by noon. Falcon's stone bathtub holds hot-spring temperatures while jungle canopy closes in overhead. Zen offers the full contrast – carved onsen, then a spring-fed cold plunge that rewires your whole morning. Every soak is private. Every soak is yours.

Use the Jungle as Your Guide

Tirta Gangga water palace is 25 minutes away. Tukad Cepung waterfall is 40. Amed's reef snorkeling coast is under an hour. Or do nothing – hang in the hammock at Lightroom, climb the net above Horizon's plunge pool, or read from Zen's library on mindfulness and sustainable living. East Bali rewards both the adventurer and the person who stays put.

04EveningAfter dark

Bonfire, Stars, and the Sound of the River

Cocoon's enclosed garden was built for this – jacuzzi warm, bonfire lit, one of the cleanest rivers in Bali flowing just below. Reflection's group gathers around the heated pool for a floating breakfast that somehow became dinner. Tantra strips it back entirely: you, the jungle dark, a jacuzzi, and nothing between you and the sky.

We almost booked a resort in Seminyak. So glad we didn't. Falcon's garden felt like our own private world – we locked the gate, heated the stone bath, and didn't leave for two days. The bamboo, the jungle sounds at night, the fact that nobody else was around... it was the honeymoon we actually wanted, not the one Instagram sells you.

If you want privacy and nature, this is it. A secluded bamboo villa by a river, totally secluded, and very peaceful. We stayed in The Cocoon and it felt like being in your own little world. Flower bath, jungle all around, warm plunge pool, great food and vegan options too. The staff were helpful and kind, and the whole place just feels very intentional. Romantic, cozy, and very hard to leave.

Honest Answers to the
Questions Everyone Asks

What exactly is a Hideout? Is it a hotel?+
No – and that's the point. Each Hideout is a private, standalone bamboo house designed by architects and set on the riverbanks of Selat in East Bali's Karangasem region. There's no lobby, no reception desk, and no shared pool. You get your own house, your own garden, and your own private water feature – whether that's a heated plunge pool, a stone bathtub, a jacuzzi, or a flower bath. Meals are delivered to your door. Staff are available but not hovering. Think of it as a handcrafted home in the jungle, not a room in a building.
Are the bamboo houses open-air? What about bugs and insects?+
It depends which Hideout you choose – and that's by design. Tantra and Horizon are deliberately open-air for guests who want full jungle immersion. But if that's not your style, Cocoon can be largely closed up to shelter from wildlife and weather. Falcon has large windows and a lockable garden gate. Bamboo Home wraps the bedroom in floor-to-ceiling glass. You choose how much jungle you want. We also provide mosquito nets, natural repellents, and detailed prep guides before arrival so you know exactly what to expect.
How do I get to Hideout? Is East Bali hard to reach?+
Hideout is in Selat, Karangasem – about 2 to 2.5 hours from Ngurah Rai Airport depending on traffic. We offer private airport transfers that can be arranged at booking. The drive itself is part of the experience – you'll watch Bali shift from busy southern tourist zones into quiet rice terraces, river valleys, and jungle as you head east. Once you arrive, the Hideout team helps with luggage and gets you settled.
Which Hideout is best for honeymooners?+
Falcon is the most requested property for honeymooners – a modern bamboo retreat with a lockable private garden and a heated outdoor stone bathtub at hot-spring temperatures. Element is the choice for couples who want a design-forward experience: a rotating round bed inside a 360° glass bedroom with an infinity jacuzzi facing Mount Agung. Cocoon offers a more cocoon-like seclusion with a heated jacuzzi and bonfire in an enclosed jungle garden. All three are built for two.
Can I bring my family? Is it safe for young children?+
Yes – Bamboo Home was specifically designed for families with small children. It has a fully enclosed bedroom behind floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a dedicated toddler bed (70×160cm), a kid-sized sink in the bathroom, a kitchen with stove, fridge and freezer, plus a heated outdoor bathtub in a quiet private garden. For families with older kids or teens, Reflection offers two connected bamboo houses with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a shared lounge, and a private heated pool.
Is there Wi-Fi? Can I work from a Hideout?+
Yes. Most Hideouts have fast Wi-Fi, and several – including Bamboo Home and Horizon – have a dedicated workspace. That said, Hideout is built for people who want to disconnect, not optimise their productivity. If you need a couple of hours to handle emails, you'll be fine. If you're looking for a coworking setup, this probably isn't the stay for you – and we'd rather be upfront about that.
